The Big Bang Theory: 10 Hidden-Details You Never Noticed About Penny’s Apartment

Penny loved her apartment across the hall, even though she spent a lot of evenings at Leonard and Sheldon’s place.
Penny had the chance to move across the hall from Sheldon and Leonard in Apartment 4b. She didn’t know that the quiet, nerdy boy across the hall, only 22 years old, would eventually become her husband.
Although Penny loved her apartment across the hall but frequently spent the night at Leonard and Sheldon’s place since they had WiFi and food. Since she could not paint the walls, she customized the room by adding brightly colored furnishings and accessories to bring some Penny into the otherwise drab flat. We’re looking at some details that fans could have missed, even if many fans scoff at the idea that Penny could ever have afforded an apartment of that size on her own (with only a few shifts at the Cheesecake Factory).

SHE HAS PICTURES OF THE CAST AND CREW ON HER FRIDGE

The next time you binge-watch The Big Bang Theory, pay close attention to Penny’s refrigerator. You might recognize a couple of the items there. Actual photographs of Kaley Cuoco, the cast, and a few of herself, Melissa Rauch (Bernadette), and Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah-Fowler) are displayed on the fridge.

WE’VE ONLY SEEN THE WALL BEHIND PENNY’S TV ONCE

We never see the wall that the couch is facing because of the way Penny’s flat is framed in our view. The cameras are located on the “wall,” which improves our ability to see what is happening in the scene. Her TV is presumably situated against the wall that the couch is facing.
But as soon as Amy and Penny became close friends, Amy decided to commission an oil painting of the two to mark the occasion. The only place to display the portrait was (probably) over her TV because the image was so hefty and unattractive. That was the only time the cameras panned to the entertainment wall to get a closer look at the photo.

FIRST EPISODE BLUNDERS

Penny is moving into the flat down the hall when Leonard first catches a glimpse of her. Leonard cannot help but introduce himself to the stunning blonde since she is so intrigued by her.
But when the camera pans over to Penny, the layout of her flat looks a little off. In Penny’s apartment, the living room and kitchen are usually visible, but at this moment, the kitchen is wholly obscured.

WHERE DOES THIS WINDOW LOOK OUT TO?

The layout of Penny’s apartment can be difficult to imagine when we only see her bedroom. When Penny is seated at her adorable dining table, we can see the same view via the window on the left side of the photo.
What about the window right there by the bathroom door, though? The window’s curtain has never been drawn back, but Sheldon mentions it when he and Amy are performing their trial stay, so we know it is accurate. That makes it challenging to imagine what she might see from that window because we frequently suspect it to be an additional wall in her room.

WHAT’S UP WITH THE KITCHEN WINDOW?

It isn’t easy to envision a situation in which Penny had her kitchen window open. Due to Penny’s phony picture of palm trees on her kitchen window, many admirers initially believed it to be fake. Similar to the “fake” window in the bathroom adjacent room. However, Amy leaves the kitchen window open when Sheldon and Amy move into Penny’s apartment!

WHERE IS HER APARTMENT COMPLEX LOCATED ANYWAY?

The fourth story houses Penny and Leonard’s flats, the only two on that floor. However, it appears that their address and approximate direction from various points of interest alter.
Their apartment building’s address is 2311 North Los Robles Avenue, as revealed in past seasons. It appears that the address changes in season five when it is stated at 215 South Madison Avenue. Funny enough, putting both addresses into Google Maps shows that they are only nine minutes apart in driving time. That doesn’t appear to address Penny’s actual residence, though.

WE CAUGHT A GLIMPSE OF HER TV TWO TIMES

The particular view shown in the image above is unusual. From this view, we can see Penny’s entertainment center even though the camera is frequently in the same spot as her entertainment area.
While Penny invites friends over to watch the Nebraska game when she and Leonard are just starting to date, it is another instance in the program where this occurs. Other than that, her TV is never seen.

WHY DOES SHELDON KNOCK IF THERE’S A DOORBELL?

Although diehard fans know why Sheldon knocks three times before entering a room (he once accidentally walked in on his father and another woman), they still wonder why he bothers to knock when there is a doorbell that works, just as well.
In some instances, doorbells are louder and more noticeable. Funny enough, Penny keeps knocking on the door at Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment, which also has a doorbell.

HER BATHROOM MIRROR APPEARED OUT OF NOWHERE

Sheldon saves Penny as she tumbles in the shower in the third season episode “The Adhesive Duck Deficiency.” Before going to the emergency room, he assists her in getting up and dresses her.
The image on the left is a cropped version of the scene where there is simply a picture and no bathroom mirror over her sink. A bathroom mirror pops out of nowhere in the image on the right. Is her sink now baby blue rather than the primary white color?

AND THIS CHAIR TRANSITIONED TO HER BEDROOM

Bright colors and playful patterns abound in Penny’s flat, giving it a ’70s feel. The Skruvsta Swivel Chair that was initially in her living room is a bright green color. Penny hosts a Halloween party at her flat with a group of pals in “The Middle Earth Paradigm,” an episode from later in the series.
Over time, the chair vanished, and she replaced it with one that Sheldon liked, but it eventually reappeared in Penny’s bedroom! Fans may purchase the chair from IKEA in the real world!
